Although we are a Church of England school, we welcome children and families of all faiths and none and our school community very much reflects our local community. Nursery Admissions
3- and 4-Year-Old Nursery Provision
The nursery for 3- and 4-year-olds operates from Mondays to Fridays during the school term. Sessions are offered as full-time, morning, afternoon and 15 hours over 2 and a half days.

Childcare Funding Options
All 3 to 4-year-olds in England are entitled to 570 free childcare hours per year. It is usually taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year (during the school term).
Tax-Free Childcare
Eligible working parents can get an additional 15 hours of free childcare per week for their 3- and 4-year-olds. These families can access up to 30 hours of free childcare a week, for 38 weeks per year (up to 1140 hours per year).
If you are eligible for 30 hours free childcare, you can access this offer in the school term after your child’s third birthday.

If you are eligible, you will be issued with an eligibility code which you will need to bring into school to confirm your application.
Paid Additional Hours
If you are not eligible for 30 hours free childcare, you may be able to pay for additional hours. Please refer to the Early Years Charging Policy for additional hours charges.

2-Year-Old Nursery Provision

Free Early Learning for 2-Year-Olds
Paid Additional Hours
Parents may request a full-time place subject to additional hours payment detailed in the Early Years Charging Policy and sufficient space within the 2-year-old provision.
Parents of 2-Year-Olds Eligible for Working Parent and Additional Support Entitlements
Some parents may be eligible for 15 hours under the working parent entitlement and 15 hours under the additional support entitlement.
If you are eligible for both schemes, you will receive 15 hours from each scheme (up to a maximum of 30 hours a week in total – 1140 hours a year). You will need to apply to each scheme to receive 30 hours in total.
Other Charges
Government funding is not intended to cover the costs of meals, other consumables (such as nappies or sunscreen), additional hours or additional activities (such as trips).
St John’s School does not make a charge for meals, other consumables or additional activities for eligible 2, 3 and 4-year-olds.
However, where relevant, we do require parents to bring in care products (nappies and wipes) for their child/ren.
