The “Friends of St John’s” is the parent teacher association (PTA) for our school. As parents you are automatically members of the Friends group. Our main aim is to fundraise to support the school in providing extra equipment and stimulating experiences which will benefit the experiences of ALL our children

Through fundraising, the Friends have been able to provide:

• Digital cameras for every class to support learning

• Annual Christmas pantomime trips and performances for all children

• High visibility vests for each class to ensure children are safe when out on trips

• Contributions to the cost of class trips, particularly more expensive trips such as to the Jorvik museum in York

In addition to this a small group of the parents formed a Playground Project Group and raised a substantial amount of money for the re-development of all three playgrounds.

How to get involved

We meet fortnighly, on a Tuesday morning from 9.00-10.00 am in the school hall to plan future events and fundraising. Young children are welcome and tea, coffee, and biscuits are served.  It’s a great way to get involved in the life of the school and make new friends.

You do not need any special skills- just lots of enthusiasm!  If you can’t get attend the meetings there are a number of ways you can help and get involved – from designing posters to providing contacts for raffle prizes and helping out at events. We have recently set up a whatsapp group to make communication easier for those who can't attend meetings - just contact the school office for details of how to join this. 

Events this term

We are so pleased to be resuming our Friends meetings after such a long period of Covid restrictions. Our Friends' group have organised a wonderful Summer Fair on Friday 14th July from 5:30-7:30. As well as being great fun, it will also help raise funds for the school so we look forward to welcoming as many families as possible. Tickets can be bought in advance through Parentmail or on the door. 

Shop online at your normal retailers via Easy Fundraising and St John's and we will receive 1.5% of your shop as a donation at no extra cost to yourself. There are nearly 3,000 retailers on board including: Amazon, eBay, John Lewis, Tesco and Next – it doesn't cost you a penny extra!
