Worship

Worship is a central part of life at St John's Upper Holloway, reflecting our ethos and values as a Church of England school. Worship provides a dedicated time for pupils and staff to come together in a spiritual space, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

Our Vision: Living in Love

Everything we do is guided by a very special command from Jesus:

“My command is this: love each other as I have loved you.” John 15:12

In our busy North London lives, we want St John’s to be a place where every child feels that love. It is the foundation of our school family, helping us to grow not just as learners, but as kind and empathetic people.

Why We Worship Together

Collective worship is a daily chance for our pupils and staff to step away from the hum of the classroom and find a bit of "quiet space." It’s a time for:

  • Community: Feeling a sense of belonging and shared purpose.

  • Reflection: Thinking about big questions, moral issues, and our place in the world.

  • Celebration: Marking the joy of Christian festivals and our own school successes.

  • Growth: Developing a personal sense of spiritual wonder and gratitude.

Our Core Values

While Love is our "engine," it drives several other values that we look for and celebrate in our children every day:

  • Creativity – Expressing our unique gifts.

  • Thankfulness – Appreciating the world around us.

  • Truthfulness – Being honest with ourselves and others.

  • Friendship – Building strong, supportive bonds.

  • Perseverance – Keeping going, even when things are tricky.

  • Courage – Standing up for what is right.

At St John’s, we strive to follow Jesus’ example by showing these values through our words and, most importantly, our actions. We invite all our families—regardless of their own faith background—to join us in this journey of kindness and respect.
