RE

At St John’s, our RE curriculum is designed to give children a full understanding of different faith and global worldviews. We want all children to be religiously literate so they know what they think and can explain why. Our aim is that children will be able to discuss, agree and disagree well.

We follow the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS)’s RE curriculum. Our units and lessons are structured through Unit Questions, which lead to Lesson Questions. The frame our discussions and explorations around the three RE disciplines of Theology, Philosophy and Human/Social Sciences. To do this, we use three characters to embody these discipline.
As part of the curriculum, each year group has different enrichment opportunities, such as trips to different sites of worship or visits into school from individuals who represent a range of views, religious or non-religious.

Please see our RE one page document outlining RE at St John’s.
